Recipe 147: Braised Green Beans

These are not just plain old green beans. These have a lot of zipping.

Serving Size: 4

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

• 2 tbsp. sugar

• 3 tbsp. soy sauce

• 1/4 cup white wine

• 1/2 cup chicken broth

• 1 package cubed tofu

• Salt

• Pepper

• 2 tbsp olive oil

• 1 onion, chopped

• 4 minced garlic cloves

• 1 red chili pepper, chopped

• 1 ½ cup green beans cut in half

• 1 cup water chestnuts, sliced

• 1 cup baby corn

• Chicken broth as needed

Directions:

1. Combine the sugar, soy sauce, wine, and broth in a bowl and set aside.

2. Season the cubed tofu with salt and pepper.

3. In a pan, heat some olive oil and cook the onion, garlic, red chili pepper, and green beans for 5 minutes.

4. Add the water chestnuts, baby corn, and tofu, and sauce to the skillet.

5. Bring the mixture to a boil, lower to low heat and continue to cook for another 5 minutes.

6. Add chicken broth as necessary.
